Dear Parents,

Welcome back to our final term in Year 5. Can you believe that we have completed 2/3 of the school year already?  Our Summer Term promises to be, as always, very hard working with lots of fun.

          Our Learning

As in our previous two terms in Year 5, we are working in separate subjects rather than connecting all our work to an over-arching topic. Our subject learning in each subject area is as follows:
Maths: Problem solving using all 4 Maths operations, data handling, fractions, decimals and percentage equivalents,  factors, multiples and prime numbers, 2D and 3D shapes and Roman Numerals
English: Discussion: controversial issues, Poetry, Narrative:  fables,  Biography,  Narrative sequel,  Explanation texts
Science: Chemistry, Properties of materials, irreversible and reversible changes, solids, liquids and gases.
History: Local area study
Computing: Blogging
PE: Team games, team building activities
Art/Design: Textiles/Printing
RE: Comparing different religions
Spanish: Every day vocabulary, numbers to 50, colours, clothes, everyday greetings
SEALS: Relationships, Changes

Practicalities: Our PE days have not changed. We have Commando Joe every Monday and Football with MUFC every Wednesday. Our PE kit remains as black shorts and white t shirt.

As always, if you have any questions or queries, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Many thanks,

Andrew Farrell
